Andrea Phelan is a Managing Director and Product Management Lead for the Data Solutions and Services (DSS) platform at BNY. Since joining the Data Management team in 2019 she has been instrumental in advancing the bank’s data strategy by delivering enhanced capabilities and embedding data governance by design into the firm’s foundational data assets. Andrea reports directly to the firm’s Chief Data and AI Officer, Sarthak Pattanaik.

In her role as Head of Product for DSS, Andrea drives the initiatives that enable trusted data, seamless data accessibility, and actionable insights across BNY. She leads the development and execution of a product portfolio spanning on-premises and cloud, including the enterprise data lake, marketplace, data governance tools, master data management, and transactional data hubs. Under her leadership the team has delivered solutions that empower both data producers and consumers to run our company better, enhancing decision-making and operational efficiency across the bank.
Andrea brings over 25 years of experience in Financial Services Technology, with a consistent focus on data and engineering.

Prior to BNY, she was at Deutsche Bank, where she led customer data innovation programs supporting KYC and the end-to-end client data lifecycle. Earlier in her career, Andrea was a consultant at Accenture, developing deep expertise in data management and engineering for multiple clients across the investment banking and insurance sectors.
Andrea holds a degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Virginia. She lives in New York with her husband, Tim, and their two children.
