
Alicia Callanan serves as Deputy Treasurer for Iowa State Treasurer Roby Smith. Alicia earned her B.A. degree in public relations with an emphasis on political science from Drake University’s School of Journalism and Mass Communication in 2008, her Certified Public Managers certification (CPM) from Drake University’s School of Business in 2021 and her Masters of Business Administration from the University of Iowa in 2024. She has worked for the Treasurer’s Office for over 11 years.
Alicia’s current responsibilities include oversight of Iowa’s 529 plans, Iowa’s Achieving a Better Life Experience (ABLE) plan and Iowa’s unclaimed property program within the State Treasurer’s Office. In the national arena, Alicia is an active participant in the National Association of State Treasurers (NAST).
