Kristen Fontana
Director, Head of Public Finance Credit Strategy, Co-Head of Municipal Sustainable Finance, Wells Fargo Securities

Kristen Fontana is a Director and the Head of Public Finance Credit Strategy and Co-Head of Municipal Sustainable Finance at Wells Fargo Securities.  Kristen is based in New York City and works with a variety of governmental and non-profit entities across the country to introduce new and existing credits to the market.  As the lead credit specialist, Kristen focuses on opportunities associated with emerging sector and market trends as well as rating agency strategy and investor outreach.  She has worked with a broad range of public finance clients including: community development financial institutions, affordable housing providers, state and local governments, public utilities and transportation agencies.

Kristen has approximately 18 years of capital markets experience including 12 years at Wells Fargo Securities.  Prior to Wells Fargo, she spent a combined six years at two large investment banks where she fostered relationships with institutional equity investors and provided analytical support to the credit derivatives sales and trading business.

Kristen was named a ‘2021 Rising Star’ by the Bond Buyer.   She is served two terms on the GASB Advisory Committee or “GASAC” as a representative of SIFMA where she provides feedback on emerging accounting standards.  Kristen is a member of the National Federation of Municipal Analysts, Municipal Bond Women’s Forum as well as the Northeast Women in Public Finance.

Kristen graduated cum laude with a B.S. in Finance from the University of Maryland, College Park and holds an M.P.P. from the University of Chicago Harris School of Public Policy.  Kristen holds FINRA Series 7, 63, and 79 securities licenses.
