Cori Shepherd Whitten is Senior Counsel in the Public Finance Abuse Unit of the Division of Enforcement at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. Prior to joining the Public Finance Abuse Unit in April of 2016, Ms. Whitten served as an Attorney-Adviser in the SEC’s Office of Municipal Securities for approximately two and half years. In that role, Ms. Whitten was responsible for helping to implement the SEC’s municipal securities rulemaking initiatives. Prior to joining the SEC, Ms. Whitten worked as a public finance attorney at the law firm of McGuireWoods LLP for over five years. Ms. Whitten holds a B.A., cum laude, from UCLA and a J.D., cum laude, from University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law.
